I know Obama was in his teens when US automakers begged for their first bail-out, having ignored the prevailing winds of change to retool but hey, O and I are the same age and I remember the oil crisis in the seventies...and I didn't even live here then!

I guess he figures that since we're bailing out other big boys and even consumers irresponsibly made mortgages, what can it hurt?

Naughty, naughty Obama. Now go stand in the corner and think about that for awhile young man. And no dessert for you tonight either!

Blame Obama for new consumer protections

The man hasn't even gotten into office yet but he's apparently already guilty of a whole host of executive level legislative and administrative sins. In reference to the newest consumer protection legislation due to take effect November 13, 2008 comes this winning entry from Silvia:

This is only just the beginning of what is to come with a Democrat controlled Congress and a Democrat President to be. Our nation is in a predictament that will cause the complete downfall of America. We are almost to the end of the road to become socialism, where government owns everything, controls everything, etc. Wake up America!!!!! The President can only propose legislation, Congress does the dirty work.

I responded to this intellectual giant saying:

~sigh~ This was passed by the current administration -Bush- at his behest, months if not last year. The democrats took the elections five days ago and haven't even been inaugurated and you're already blaming them? Good grief.

Silvia elucidated with this gem:

It is accurate! Things don't happen overnight. I'm not blaming either party. Congress and unconcerned Americans are to blame. Better check out the President Elect's 650 million. 300 million from foreign countries and he has yet to publish his contributors. Just the facts mam. Subject closed.

Apparently "things don't happen overnight" but Obama is a miracle worker the likes of which we've never seen which is somehow tied to his successful fundraising. Call me dense but I don't see the connection.

'Nuff said. To dispense with any future oversights, I say we act prophylactically and hang the man by his thumbs now.
